50+ Random Tasks &
Party Dare Ideas (2026)

No strategy, no overthinking — just do what the card says. Random Tasks is the game mode for people who don't shy away from a challenge. Surprise challenges for whoever the group selects. Zero mercy.

How to Play

A player is selected and a task is revealed. They have 60 seconds to complete it. Simple as that — just do what the card says. Refuse and you take 3 penalties instead. The group votes on whether the task was completed properly.

Social Challenges

01 Send a text to the last person you messaged saying 'We need to talk' — wait 30 seconds before you correct it. Show the group the response.
02 Text your most recent ex 'hey' with zero context. Show the group.
03 Let another player post anything they want to your Instagram story. You cannot check it until the game ends.
04 DM someone you genuinely admire (not in this room) a real compliment, right now.
05 Let the group scroll through your camera roll for 30 uninterrupted seconds.
06 Text a contact chosen by the group: 'I've been thinking about you lately.' Show the response.
07 Call your mum, dad, or closest family member right now and tell them you love them. On speaker.
08 Change your profile picture to the worst photo of yourself on your phone. Keep it for 10 minutes.
09 Set your WhatsApp status to something the group writes. Keep it for 10 minutes.
10 Text your family group chat a photo chosen by the group with zero explanation.
11 Follow someone on social media chosen by the group. No unfollowing until the game is over.

Performance Challenges

01 Do your best impression of someone in this room — keep going until they guess who it is.
02 Perform a 30-second stand-up comedy routine. Right now. Go.
03 Sing the chorus of any song the group chooses — in full opera style.
04 Give a dramatic reading of your most recent sent email as though it's the climax of a Shakespeare play.
05 Do a full runway walk across the room to a song the group picks.
06 Narrate your life from birth to right now in exactly 60 seconds.
07 Freestyle rap about your week. At least 8 bars. No skipping.
08 Pretend to be a news anchor reporting a 'breaking story' about something that happened this week.
09 Freestyle a 30-second commercial for the drink currently in your hand.
10 Give a fully committed motivational speech about a mundane topic chosen by the group.
11 Do a live commentary on someone eating a snack as if it's a world championship event.

Physical Challenges

01 Do 10 push-ups. If you genuinely can't do 10, do 20 sit-ups instead. No negotiating.
02 Spin in circles 10 times, stop, then try to walk in a straight line to the other side of the room.
03 Hold a plank for 45 seconds. The group counts out loud. No stopping early.
04 Carry a drink from one side of the room to the other balanced on the back of your hand without spilling.
05 Do 15 jumping jacks while maintaining direct eye contact with the group the entire time.
06 Try to lick your elbow. Fail publicly.
07 Hold an ice cube in your closed fist for 30 seconds.
08 Do the worm across the floor. Or your most honest attempt at it.
09 Do your best split attempt on the floor. Points are for effort, not flexibility.
10 Stand on one foot for 30 seconds while the group tries to make you laugh.
11 Attempt a karate kick as dramatically as possible. Commitment is mandatory.

Group Challenges

01 Every player switches one item of clothing with the person on their left. Wear it for 3 rounds.
02 The group has 2 minutes to agree on a group name, a group motto, and a secret handshake. Go.
03 Every player must give a genuine compliment to the person on their right. Right now.
04 Everyone calls someone from their contacts at exactly the same time. Put them on speaker.
05 Everyone must do a 5-second impression of a different player. No one can repeat the same person.
06 Take the best possible group photo in 60 seconds. No filters. Someone posts it.
07 Everyone must reveal the title of the most embarrassing thing currently saved on their phone.
08 Everyone picks a category. Go around the circle naming things — whoever repeats or blanks takes the penalty.
09 The whole group must lip-sync to a song chosen by the group for 30 seconds. In unison.
10 The group votes anonymously on who has to take the next forfeit — but the vote must be unanimous.
11 The group must agree on the three most likely in this room: most likely to be late, most likely to cry, most likely to ghost someone. Announce each publicly.

Tips for a Better Game

Commit fully or take the penalty

A half-done task doesn't count. Either you do the challenge properly or you take 3 penalties. The group is the judge.

Set a time limit

Give players 60 seconds to complete a challenge once it's drawn. Watching someone deliberate for 3 minutes kills the energy.

Read the room for social tasks

Social challenges (texting exes, posting to stories) are optional-ish — if someone is genuinely uncomfortable, let them swap for 3 penalties. Keep the game fun, not forced.

Save group challenges for the middle of the game

Group challenges work best when people are already loose and laughing. Drop them too early and no one commits. Drop them too late and everyone is too tired.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if someone refuses to do a task?

They take 3 penalties instead. Simple. The only real rule is you either do it or you pay for it.

Can you play Random Tasks without alcohol?

Who picks which player gets the task?

In Drinkly, the app selects the player automatically. If you're playing manually, spin a bottle, roll a die, or have the previous player choose.

Is there an app version of Random Tasks?

Yes — Drinkly includes Random Tasks alongside 6 other game modes. Play for free in your browser or download the app for the full experience.
